About Marnie.
I am a Physiotherapist and qualified yoga instructor who is passionate about helping women of all life stages reach their health goals. I also love helping people manage pain and movement challenges, so they can return to activities that matter to them.
I practise a holistic approach to patient care and focus on working collaboratively with my patients to optimise their path to wellness. As well as group and private yoga classes, I incorporate yogic principles into my everyday physiotherapy treatment, using breath work, feel-good movement, relaxation and meditation therapeutically. I believe that most of us need some encouragement and help to learn how to slow down, take time out for ourselves, and to rediscover the joy of movement.
And that once we do, the overall health benefits we experience are endless.
Since graduating in 2001, I have worked in a number of settings, including hospitals, community health, private practice and outpatient rehabilitation, with my practice focused mainly in the areas of musculoskeletal dysfunction and managing persistent pain. Very early on in my career, I developed an interest in women’s health and as time has progressed, the unique and complex challenges faced by women throughout the lifespan have been a focus of my practice and ongoing learning.
My journey with yoga began 20 years ago - initially I participated purely for the physical benefits of improving my performance on the netball and basketball courts. But very quickly I came to notice, appreciate and turn up to class because of all of the other benefits of my time on the yoga mat. The opportunity to slow down and be still, breathe mindfully, and take time for myself were unexpected, but very welcomed gifts. My love for yoga led me to complete my yoga teacher training in 2017. And since then, I can’t help but integrate what I know and love about yoga into my physiotherapy work.
My own experiences with assisted reproduction, pregnancy, birth and becoming a mother to two beautiful girls have fueled my craving for more and more knowledge along the way, leading me to complete further study in women’s and pelvic health, pre and post-natal yoga, birth preparation and yoga for fertility.
I’m so passionate about all things pregnancy, birth, post-partum and pelvic floor health. I enjoy working with you to help achieve your goals, return to the activities that are important to you, and help you to become the best version of yourself.
My goal is to support, empower and nurture women to ease into motherhood, and to thrive throughout their lives.
I’m inspired to break down the barriers and stigma around pelvic health issues and facilitate open discussions that promote understanding and awareness.
